Back in April I participated our church's easter illustrated sermon/play. I was just a town person, but we still got to do altar call. That was so rewarding. At the end of each performance, and their were seven, our pastor went down to the front and spoke for about ten minutes. She wrapped up the whole play and then gave the altar call. As she was talking us cast would walk out to the stage and wait there as the people came flocking forward. :) It was so beautiful to see these people, that I had never seen before give their hearts to the Lord.
As the people walk up to you, you have to prepare your heart for what they are going to need. Praying for those people was one of the best things that I have ver done. I prayed for these two girls at one service who were around 15 or 16. They were living in a shelter by themselves with a bunch of other teenagers. Their group leader decided to bring them here because they had nothing esle to do. They were so preious, at that moment and time my heart just broke. They looked to broken and lost. I realized just how fortunate I was. I had parents, and a home, but most of all I had hope.
When I prayed with those girls they thanked me I don't how many times! We were all crying and hugging. It was then that I got a revelation.
We are so selfish! How many times a day do we say the word I? Probably more than you can count! We are always thinking about what we want, and what we need. Their are so many other people in this world. But do we think about them? I mean we sometimes pray for them. Especially when disasters happen, like Japan and Joplin. But what about all the other times, when everything is going perfect? At times like those people need our prayers too! People don't just stop hurting because their isn't a disaster going on in their town or country.
This world is full of hurting people......I am just one of billions! Everyone is hurting in some way, some more than others. But they can use our prayers!
Please open up your eyes to this hurting world. If nothing more offer a smile to that lonely man on the street. Or offer to help that young mother of three with her grocery bags. Anything! Just know that the more you give our of yourselves the more full you will feel inside.
